Welcome to the Community Seed Library

The Seed Library was started to help nurture a thriving community of local gardeners of all levels to share access to free seeds. This project was developed to help support gardeners and seed savers through the process of seed saving and to encourage gardening in our City.
The Seed Library is located inside the Safety Harbor Public Library. A library card is required to participate and we encourage you to have one to enjoy this and the many other resources the Safety Harbor Public Library offers. The Seed Library can be found in the rotunda to the left of the circulation desk in the artistic cabinet file. If you don't see it, please ask a staff member. We encourage borrowers to donate seeds from their finished crops to replace those borrowed and will accept seed donations year round. For additional information on the Seed Library, please email shplref@cityofsafetyharbor.com.

The Story of Seven Seeds...

A few seeds didn't seem like a lot when a friend shared some of her kale seeds with me; little did I know the power of a seed. I poked the seeds into the ground, watered, and waited. It was exciting to see how nature grew the seedling into large plants full of kale leaves. There was enough kale for my family, the neighbors, friends and a few passerby's for several months. Kale was such a nutritious addition to our diet but I think it tasted so good because I grew it myself, with the help of a friend that shared seven seeds. - Karen Errico
